WIP - Aussie Antique Quilt

Another block finished in this epic adventure - by the time I've finished all these applique blocks - I think I will have mastered circles.  There are an awful lot throughout this quilt.

Aussie MailArt

Jennifer & Helen from the IUOMA - Australia group - sent these cards - it is amazing what these artists produce.  They are really talented textile artists.

Bromeliads & Gingers

Went up to Buderim on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday to buy some bromeliads for our back yard.  This garden was totally awesome (& I don't like that expression but it fully describes what we saw).
This is only a little part of the garden - they are sometimes open for the Open Garden Scheme but not this year.  We had a wonderful time choosing plants - could have bought a lot more.
We then went to the Ginger Factory at Yandina http://www.gingerfactory.com.au/ had lunch (not noteworthy) & had a look around the garden.  The heliconias are just magnificient & are a great subject for a quilt or two.
Ginger flowers - we only have cream flowers like this beehive flower. There are so many different ginger plants with so many different & vibrant flowers.

From LadyL ladyldesigns.blogspot.com  in Canada - love it.

HerShed

Here is part of my stash - sitting & waiting to be used.
I have started on a new project. A friend's daughter is having a baby any tick of the clock & I am making a quilt for the little one.

Backyard getting a Facelift

HofM has worked extremely hard over the last couple of days - carting dirt and mulch from the front of the property to the back yard.  The garden is getting ready to receive a lot of new bromeliads.
This tree was chopped down last year, parts of it were used as legs for the seats in the puuuurgola and we are using some of the stumps to house new bromeliads.
Here are some of the new broms waiting patiently with the friendly statues and they'll all be added to the garden along with some of the pups from the old broms.   Should look really great & be a boost to us to have this 'brand new' garden to look at.
We had this pineapple plant in the garden - it went completely under during the flood and afterwards, it produced this fruit & it's getting bigger & bigger.  Harvest-time is just around the corner!  We'll have to call in helpers for this harvest season!

Mount Tamborine visit

The girls from Inner City Circle visited a member, Betty, who now lives on Mount Tamborine, what a view from her back verandah - through to the Gold Coast.
Was this an art installation ready for an exhibition?
Betty had a lot of her quilts displayed in this wonderful cupboard
This mat was on the floor of the guest accommodation - we were all lining up to book our weekend away. We had lunch on Gallery walk and spent a lot of time catching up with each other.  A lovely day away.

Postie brings joy - sometimes!

Molly from Perth sent me this to cheer me up.

One of my latest 'Flood Art' pieces - the back of the photo was damaged, so I hand stitched a bit, then machine embellished & finished off the postcard.
