Young Diggers & the Dog Squad

These ceremonies are just soooooo boring!  The handover of the cheque to Founder & Director of Young Diggers www.youngdiggers.com.au - thank you to Inner City Circle & Purple Paddo Patchers Quilt groups for their help at our Dogs for Diggers High Tea.  A great group of ladies.
Zeus - adding his comment to the proceedings.

Digger couldn't take the stress & gave in & Hades was just confused by the goings-on.

HofM & I handed over the cheque to John Jarret of Young Diggers.  Sheba was almost standing to attention - unusual for her.  The Bunker is where Young Diggers headquarters - nothing special but somewhere they can meet and chat and get help if that's what they need.

Baby Blocks

Baby blocks - made from a pattern purchased from Voodoo Rabbit www.voodoorabbit.com.au here in Brisbane - they have a delightful stock of fabrics (out of the ordinary stuff) and patterns. Guess who'll get one of these?

Left-overs!

What to do with left-overs?  These 2 quilts used up some of the left over fabric from the wedding quilt I made for my son & his bride. The top one is made up of randomly pieced blocks and black sashing and the bottom one used the disappearing 9 patch method.  Both are machine quilted.

Dog Star Quilt

'Dog Star' quilt was made for a SilentAuction we held at our Dogs for Diggers High Tea a couple of weeks ago.  The pattern was produced by a couple of Queensland Quilters last year - it is a very simple design but looks really great.

I try to use up the left over fabric from the front as the backing - I end up with some really interesting designs. I had to add some fabric from my stash to this backing - but I'm not fretting there's still plenty left in the stash!

There's movement in the yard!

We (a royal 'we') are building a Villa to house some chooks - like most things in our yard, we use what materials areon hand.

These clay pipes were seconded from a neighbour who had great plans for a wine cellar that has never eventuated & now the pipes have been put to good use in our garden.  Our neighbour still has over 100 pipes under his house! I didn't point out that HofM was playing with hexagons!  Maybe that's why I like the design.

A Fishy Life

At the night meeting of Qld Quilters we have been given themes for a few months and this is the quilt that resulted. I won the fabric as a lucky door prize one meeting.  It will be in the Qld Quilt Show at the Brisbane Convention Centre next month.

A Day in the Country

Triple P girls were invited to Bev's home at Cedar Vale near Beaudesert for the monthly meeting - we had a great lunch & chatted & sewed & enjoyed the day in the country.  Almost makes one want to move from the city.........almost!
