Mail In

I was so lucky to receive these pieces this week. This one is from Kerri - she lives in Arizona. The address side was painted too.

Valentine's Day is certainly big in the States - watching the MailArt 365 site - there was a certain theme of hearts all around that day.  I received this one from Laura  in Minnesota.  They even put out stamps with hearts on them.
Oops - forgot to rotate this one - sorry Mim - it looks great right way up. Mim sent this from Paris.

This is the envelope that came from Deb in British Columbia, Canada.  She sent some pieces for collaging - all about floods & water! I was so careful not to damage this.

Mail Out

This one is photo transfer then thread painted at bit.

Fused applique - used left over bits from the fish quilt (see below), then free motion quilted.

Mail Art

These three are part of my MailArt 365 project (I'm over a third of the way through) -I still find having a blank piece of card to collage really hard! Maybe my muse will help me again one day.

Gold Coast

Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast - view from my aunt's balcony at Runaway Bay.

Fish Quilt

Getting the applique done - machine blanket stitch around the coral & then finish the fish with satin stitching. The background came together thanks to a jellyroll of batiks I received as part of my Flood Relief package from Queensland Quilters. http://www.qldquilters.com/  The finished quilt will go to the grandson of a friend of mine.

WIP

Having fun stitching detail on to the fish - they will be machine appliqued on to a stripped background with bits of coral & other sea stuff.  Having fun with it - all out of my stash.

Cheeky Monkeys - all finished!

A friend became a first time Grandmother last year & is absolutely besotted with her grandson. This is the quilt I made for her to give to him - used the pattern "Going Bananas" by Natalie Ross of In Stitches. Used a layer cake for the background fabrics and fabric from my stash for the monkeys.  Blanket stitch appliqued and machine quilted in big stippling.

The back - I like to use up fabric from the front & again from the stash - still a long way to go with using up fabric - HofM maintains I won't live long enough to go through it all.  I'll give it a good go or maybe I just won't leave this mortal coil UNTIL it's all gone!  If I figure out how to do that I'll let you all know & Quilt Shops will prosper!!!

Close up of the monkeys - they are so cute.
