Looks Serious!!!!

It"s HofM but he is fine!  Had a lovely day planned to take our US friends to the Sunshine Coast but he decided he needed some attention & developed some chest pains. Because he has had a heart attack (3 yrs ago), ambulance was called & he spent the day undergoing tests.  Heart is not causing the problems - they now think it is something called Murphy's Disease - something to do with referred pain.  They found a sore spot around/under/behind his kidneys & are doing more tests over the next day or so. I am not being heartless but I am still going on my Quilt Retreat this weekend - he told me to - unless they find something really untoward & of course, I'll stay by his side!  Aren't I good!!!!!

Busy Week

Our US friends came back on Sunday & we have been doing a bit of sightseeing - up to Toowoomba to meet us with a couple of old schoolfriends or should I say, schoolfriends of old, so we have the flowers at Picnic Point & the view from Picnic Point.  Even thought the Carnival of Flowers is over, the flowers still look great.

Lunch at the Chocolate Shop at the Village Green, Highfields with said friends.  Just love the way they paint up their chairs.  Soup was pretty good too.

Outside one of the shops on the Village Green - should be more of them, particularly around Quilt Shops.

Birthday Present

I have a friend turning 60 this week & she has had trouble coming to terms with it. I made her this book of fashions over the decades of her life.
1950's

Would you believe - 1990's.

Friends from OS

We had a visit from friends who hail from West Virginia.  Paula had specifically come for our 45th Class Reunion - hard to believe so many years have passed - of course, none of us looked a day older. This was the meal we had with them before they went to New Zealand - or rather, what was left of it.

On the wall behind us in the Chinese Restaurant.

Back in "HerShed"

Received this from JJalltheway during the week -she's back in the States now after living in Australia for a while & she's missing Oz.

Got into "HerShed" & used the sewing machine - finished of this piece of GardenArt started at the Retreat. Do love funghi - so many shapes & colours.

Another piece of FloodArt - this one was a bit more delicately enhanced by the flood than other pieces.

Busy Weekend

Most weekends are chock-a-block in my life.  Last weekend was no exception.  Did manage a little sleep-in, then it was off to the West End Markets to say 'Hello' to my niece.  Opposite her stall I spotted the above quilt - machine pieced but hand quilted in 'delightful' 70's browns & oranges - at least I think it dates from then - will stand corrected on that. I don't often find bargains but I felt this one was at $20.00.
It's queen-sized.

Schoolhouse Quilters had their Quilt Show at Miegunyah, an historical house in Brisbane & the Qld Quilters' Study Group (I'm a member) talked to anyone interested about the antique quilts that are housed at Miegunyah.  This one  is made from woollen pieces - not sure if they were samples - they were machine pieced & then each seam was hand stitched with a feather stitch.
Saturday afternoon, I was privileged to attend the opening of an exhibition -"Undercurrents" - by three friends, Trisha, Mel & Felicity.  The exhibition was wonderful - all three should be really proud of their work.
