MailArt from the States

Laura from the States sent me these 2 pieces in the envelope below.  The page used to make the envelope was of a quilt called "The Show Must Go On" .  The stamps are great too - Jimi Hendrix & Janis Joplin & a goat..... it brightened my day.

Bundaberg

The little apartment we stayed in at Bundaberg above the Art Gallery.
View of the river as we had Sunday breakfast - not bad - the MGs in the car park pleased HofM.
Hinkler's English home was brought from England and rebuilt in the Botanical Gardens - exactly as it was...... such tiny rooms.

Cania Gorge

We did the walk to the mine - got a feel for what it must have been like to search for gold in the late 1800's. We also checked out the Dam.

Following the Brisbane River

We travelled along the Linville Forestry Road & crossed various parts of the Brisbane River 36 times - no I didn't count them - they were conveniently marked.  The dingo was the only wild wildlife we saw.  There was a fair bit of gravel road & we ended up with a flat tyre.......changed by HofM & then fixed by a nice man in Murgon.

Esk - textile art

Last week we headed off for a drive - not sure where we were going but had to end up at Childers.  First stop was Esk - home of the Kransky Sisters (sadly not sighted) & the Nash Gallery & Cafe.  This piece of Ephemeral Art was on the fence.  Food was good too.

One of my WIPs - batiks -  wedding quilt & it's not even 12 months since the wedding!  Still sewing all the blocks together - pattern by Jane Rundle http://quiltingjane.blogspot.com.au/ that featured in Down Under Quilts, Issue 159, 2013 http://www.practicalpublishing.com.au/down-under-quilts/ a while ago. Christmas trees

This was a really quick Christmas decoration to make - ended up making around 25 for Christmas Day - each with a name & used as a place-card. So simple & all machine work.  The first one has beads but that takes time so gave into speed!
