Christmas!

The Christmas Tree was a little tiny this year - it's on the piano!

Meine Engel from Germany.

Hope you all had a very happy Christmas and are looking forward to 2021.  Some one made me stop & think the other day - instead of thinking how dreadful 2020 was - think of the positives from the year.
I think, for me, it was a release from the pressure of lots of meetings each month. I found out how to participate in Zoom meetings.  I certainly took things slower and enjoyed the freedom of sitting, hand sewing and having naps without guilt!  Hope you got something good out of this year.

Stitch Meditations

A linen shirt has been taken apart and bits & pieces are being used in my little projects.  The button flowers come out of the pocket.

This fabric was thrown in to the left over water from cooking beetroot (can you see the pink tinge) and I enhanced the design with stitching and a button.

Batiks and stamped fabric, feather stitch and running stitch.

The purple was a hand dye and the outer pieces are commercial fabric.

Stamped leaves and batiks.

An Afternoon on the Mountain

Grumps went to the best hairdresser on the mountain and was transformed with bows.

Checking out the garden and rocks - one day it'll be a veggie garden.

Grandma also went to the hairdressers.

The it was Grandma's turn to transform the grandchildren.  I've never done girl's hair - so it was a new experience for me (I know the  part isn't straight!)

Shiloh ended up with a top knot and a butterfly.  We were all transformed.

Stitch Meditations

I couched a ring of fabric and really enjoyed doing this.

A piece of fabric told the story.

Using selvedge - love making circles around buttons.

The green is fabric that I dyed many years ago and worked out that I'll leave dyeing to others who do enjoy the process.

Another stitched circle around a button - although this one flattened a bit on one side (if you can have a side on a circle?????)

It's Christmas

Our Christmas tree this year sits on the piano.

My Santa collections turns the house into Christmas. Just enough for me.
May your Christmas be blest and may 2021 be wonderful for you.

Round Brisbane

Waiting to go on to the Moggill Ferry to cross the Brisbane River and lunch at a country pub and a drive around the Lockyer & Brisbane Valleys.

Nielsen's Nursery at Loganholme - lunch with Jo and this was our backdrop, running creek and water tinkling and water dragons.  So lovely.

The momentum has slowed a little but I'm still producing these little pieces.

Last month

I've decided I definitely don't want long grey hair - think Benni agrees!

We have a pirate, Popeye & a dragon - Mum was Olive Oil

And off we go on Mt Nebo to see what the neighbour's put out.

We were given the chance to have cicada shells - made 'nice' hair clips but no snacks.

Latest Stitch Meditations

Some are postcard size & will end up as PC's, others are 5" square & fit into a Spotlight frame really nicely.   I keep getting asked "But what are you going to do with them?"  It seems that some need an end goal and don't quite get doing something just for the joy of it.

Charity Quilt

I was given the top to quilt, once I figured out how to quilt it (with help from a friend), it went easily & I think doesn't look too bad.

View from 1 William Street, Brisbane

My eldest is a rigger with rope access certification and loves hanging around really tall buildings.  This is the view of Brisbane CBD from the very top of our State Government Building, 1 William Street.  He reckons he was up around 250 meters & could see our house.  It would be in the middle of the picture.

Backyard at Mt Nebo

Visited the grandchildren and we had a couple of visitors there too. This was the smaller goanna.

Here he is again - the big one made its way to the chook pen but fortunately, couldn't get in.

King parrots visit too.
