Workshop last week

I attended a workshop with Sue Duffy https://ratherbequilting.wordpress.com
She won Best of Show in Queensland a couple of years ago. Does amazing work.
Used water colour pencils and thread sketching - thought this chick had a dinosaur leg.
Placed on the background with the lily pads, the chick doesn't really look out of place.  Have yet to finish the applique.  The hen & chick have been trapuntoed (is there such a word??).
Sue's piece - we could choose this one or another piece - similar theme.
Detail of Sue's piece - can you see the reflections in the water?
Sue's piece - the bird is called a Jacana (for those who need to know) and it lives on lakes around Brisbane (& probably other places too) - big feet to 'walk' on the lily pads, also known as the Jesus bird!  It was a great workshop - now I have to finish it...……………..

  1. I've seen jacanas at Kakadu, but they don't come this far south.

It sounds like it would have been an interesting workshop. Sue's work is beautiful.
