Productive Day

First I baked - unusual for me - quiches for Brunch at church tomorrow.
Then I got in to the Shed and worked a little more on some of my UFO's. Above - thread painting on the tulips - more to go yet.
Wild & Goosey Block - I blame Vireya for this! Almost half way - attempting to get rid of some scraps.
More scraps (I think they multiply during the night) - scrappy log cabins - I'll reserve judgement on this till the blocks are up on the design wall.

Royal National Show 2017

Our Royal National Show (the Ekka) is on at the moment.  I did white glove duty today but had a chance to look at the cakes first.  There are hexagons around the base of this one.
Loved this one - it belonged to a friend.  Look at the photo closely & you'll see that she has quilted other names for circles in the white.
Best of Show - just fantastic - a triptych.
Detail of the above - a lot of Australian fabrics were used.
Top 40 - rock stars made - people were having fun trying to figure out who was who.
Wonderful applique, colour & quilting.

Sherwood Stitchers Quilt Show

Everything's hung and ready for the visitors.  We use an Anglican church, remove all the chairs and up go the stands & the quilts

We're a group of patchworkers, sewers, crocheterers (is there such a word?) and knitters.  Our raffle quilts for this year are the 2 on the right of the photo.
We raise funds for the Linus Project - this year over $3,000 will go to help buy wadding & backings etc.
And then the day was over and quilts were down.  The minister asked that we leave some up on the walls and the raffle quilts were left in front of the altar.  Thank you to everyone from Sherwood Stitchers who helped and those friends that visited.

Tweed Valley Regional Art Gallery

The beginning of the Margaret Olley Exhibition.
Part of Margaret's home - a bundle of ribbons.
Her home was certainly not the tidiest, but we are checking it out again in order to gain inspiration for our group, Broadstrokes. The Gallery has some wonderful exhibitions - well worth a visit & the cafe serves lovely food too. http://artgallery.tweed.nsw.gov.au/

Moving house Queensland style

This morning, the house had been jacked up & was resting.
During the day, would you believe a backhoe was used to push the house back 2 meters.
There's now a 2 meter gap between the front steps & the verandah.
