Just a few hours north of Brisbane is Childers - it sits on the highway heading to Cairns & is a great stopover.
This is where we had breakfast - if you're ever driving through - stop & visit the Art Gallery & the tribute to the backpackers who lost their lives in the hostel fire - it's worth the visit.
